Culinary artist, Susan Belsinger is designing a dinner, called Ichiju Sansai (一汁三菜) in Japanese. The Feast, prepared by the Skillet Restaurant at the Ozark Folk Center, will celebrate this year's theme Herb Harvest Fall Festival 2022--A Taste of Japan. A Garden Party Reception with vegetarian sushi, Norimaki (海苔巻), and libations, sponsored by the Herb Society of America--Ozark Unit, precedes the Feast. Pre-registration is required.
Tickets for the Herb Harvest Fall Festival 2022--A Taste of Japan are sold separately and are available at https://ozarkfolkcenter.ticketleap.com/herb-harvest-fall-festival-2022/.
Lavish Herbal Feast--A Taste of Japan Menu
Washshoku (wa = Japan/harmony/peace and shuku = eat or food) is the word representing the deep-rooted traditional foods of Japan, which are forms of nourishment as well as moritsuke (the Japanese love of beautifully plating food in individual small dishes as an art.)
The Lavish Herbal Feast will be a Japanese-style dinner (Ichiju Sansai), which consists of one soup, a main dish with two smaller vegetable dishes (usually a vegetable side and a salad or pickle) and rice. Each day we will feature a different version of Tsukemono (Japanese Vegetable Pickle).
