Artists Bio:

Rusti Barger is a lifelong Arkansan and avid fiber artist. She began her fiber arts journey 12 years ago when she taught herself to crochet and knit in the tradition of her Irish great-grandmother. Desiring to further broaden her textile skills, she accepted an apprenticeship in the Spinning and Weaving Shop at the Ozark Folk Center State Park in 2013, where she learned spinning, weaving, and the propagation and use of natural dyestuffs. In 2015 she began teaching workshops in weaving, knitting, and crocheting and continues to teach these workshops around the state.

Rusti and her spinning wheels have participated twice in the Mountain View Folk Festival Parade in ensemble floats which have placed with top honors. She has been featured in international media for her unique and engaging style of craft interpretation. Rusti’s true passion are her children. She has spent her life teaching them practical, hands-on skills, and in the process she discovered within herself a love of teaching and a passion to impart skills to any and all who would learn.
