Teacher bio - Jennifer Whitman, a Native Arkansas crafter,  joined the Craft Village at the Ozark Folk Center in 2017. It wasn’t her first foray into sewing and quilting. Being from a large family and utilizing farm resources she had learned to sew as a child. One of her personal treasures is a quilting frame - the old style that lowers from the ceiling – which she inherited from her grandmother.  As family tradition, quilts were made as celebration of a wedding, for each baby to be born and on a  special occasion,  or just because.  She has made lots of quilts since learning to sew from her mother and grandmother.

As a craft interpreter at OFC, Whitman worked in gardening and the fiber arts, print, and basket shops in addition to the quilt shop. She explained, “I like variety!” and she enjoys the camaraderie of the Craft Village.
